I envision a world where water is recognized and treated as the valuable resource that it is. I value water as a resource that is given to us by the planet and that is unique in its ability to be fully recycled every single time. I wish there was more education around how much water is wasted or polluted by the products we consume, maybe this could create larger awareness on how much water the companies we buy from are wasting, and shed some light on which companies are making the effort to reduce their water usage and/or recycle their water. There should also be government policies in place that put a cap on how much water a product can be allowed to use in its manufacturing process. Maybe we could also provide funding to expand on the smaller scale water efficiency and recycling programs we have seen around the world that work to reduce the amount of water wasted in the manufacturing process.

Hi Irina!
Love all the creative suggestions you've listed. In particular, like how you've focused on solutions that work at the government (price caps), consumer (increased awareness about company practices), and community level (recycling programs).
I wonder what your thoughts are on the best way to motivate companies to reduce water usage? Would a deterrent (e.g. taxing water usage) or an incentive (e.g. rebate program) work better? Or is some combination of both needed?
Another idea that could reduce water consumption at the individual level could be "gamification". By creating a challenge/goal (e.g. lowest water usage for a week among family members) with a reward for the winner, individuals can be motivated to reduce their water consumption through competition. The article below explains this in more depth!
I have never thought about water capping and it's a brilliant idea! A lot of the times when people think about water wastage, they think about it at an individual level (eg taking long showers). However, corporations are the ones that are using most of the drinking water.
I really like your idea of a water cap for manufacturing processes! I've never thought of something like that before and I think it is really realistic too
So right! Education is soooo important. Government policies definitely need to be implemented in order to regulate water consumption - a great way to start is implementing recycling programs!
