There is no question about the fact that there are many species facing extinction each day. Looking on WWF’s list of endangered species (https://www.worldwildlife.org/species/directory?direction=desc&sort=extinction_status), there are 17 species currently critically endangered (including one with the scientific name “gorilla gorilla gorilla”) that we know of. With regards to this, I value co-existing with the wildlife around us and making sure we respect their boundaries. Animals play such an important role in our ecosystem and it’s only fair that we treat them with the same respect and care that we do with other humans. There are many species that have been forced to adapt around our human lifestyles and have therefore turned to a nocturnal way of living. This isn’t natural for them and so my vision is one where we don’t drive animals away from their natural cycles, nor do we drive them towards extinction. An intervention for this could be stricter laws towards the protection of species, as well as educating the public about the importance of certain species and how their actions and choices as consumers have an impact on the populations of wildlife around them.

Hi Destinie,
thanks for sharing! We definitely need stricter laws protecting endangered species. Education and awareness about things we as humans can do to help is also important and can be done through media coverage.
Hi Destinie, thanks for sharing the list. It is absolutely surprising to see so many species under risk, and I do hope more environmental laws could be strengthened to protect them.
Hi Destinie,
I was very surprised to learn that there are 17 critically endangered species; I would have expected more media attention raised over this large number! We definitely need stricter laws to protect these species (and potential more) as it is so important that we co-exist with these diverse species to ensure a healthy ecosystem. More media attention to create awareness can help rush these urgent changes we need to implement to protect these species.
Too many animals are facing the problem of extinction, and if humans don't make changes, these animals may disappear from the planet. We should take action to stop this extinction from happening again. Being kind to the earth is also responsible for our future.
I went to the site you linked and looked at the list; it really surprised me! Not only were there critically endangered and endangered species, but they also included some at-risk and vulnerable species. The names of animals like tuna, dolphins, and turtles (which I would have never imagined to be on this list) were staring back at me. I wish lists like this were more accessible so we could realize how many species we are putting at risk because it's a lot more than I thought. I also think it might be a good idea to compile a list of species which have gone extinct so we can properly visualize the diversity we're rapidly losing.
I envision a future that humans and wildlife will coexist on Earth, too.
