My vision for a more positive future is one where we #slowdown and value the products and items that we consume. Our trend cycle is so fast right now and the pressure to keep up is strong. The change in fashion that used to be seen over a decade is now identifiable over the course of two years. I'd love to have pieces of clothing in my closet and cookware in my kitchen that I can enjoy for a long time and pass down as #heirlooms to my kids like my grandma has to me. I wish that going forward, we could encourage each other to consume #mindfully and popularize taking care of our things and being proud of #preserving them.

Hi Sofie, you raise some really good points. I agree with you that the turnover time for trends has been rapidly increasing. I hope though that this allows people to hold on to items longer as we know that very quickly the same clothing items will trend again and in turn allow for less consumption in general.
I also feel like trends these days are moving so fast! By the time I finally get on board, a new one was arisen. I agree that we can take matters in our own hands by changing our mindset about this trend cycle and encourage others to do the same!
Love the hashtag #slowdown, and the idea of not only enjoying clothing and household items for a long time, but being able to pass these items down as heirlooms to your kids, as has been done for you. What a way to incorporate sentimentality and meaning into the items we purchase!
I agree! We don't have time to take a break and find the importance in the things we already have, rather we are so caught up in staying with the trends. It is so hard for us to slow down, because if we do, we might get left behind.
YES!!!! I love how you phrased it as #slowdown. Our world right now is so GO GO GO. It's crazy to think about how fast trends change now, it's so intimidating to keep up with ! Things like heirlooms are so special, it makes me feel sad that a lot of the things we buy today have no hope of lasting as long as they did in our Grandparents' time.
I totally agree with your message about #heirlooms. In addition, when I think about things that i own and the overall quality of them there is no way that they would last generations even if i took super good care of them. Stuff just isn't made as good as what it was back then, even the Gucci sweaters.
I definitely do think that people can change when it comes to consumption of good and reusing as much as possible. I remember as a kid I would hate getting hand-me-downs from my brother because I wanted to get new things myself. However, looking back now I realize that those clothes that my brother outgrew got twice the usage because of me. When I outgrew those clothes and they were donated, I hope they continued to get even more use.
