Over consumption is terrible but there’s not a solution for that yet.
Just a few days ago, bitcoin mining met its end and all the machines it was required to use are now wasted and flowed into secondary markets. Is this an end of Graphics Card over consumption? Yes, and the environment is saved in a certain way because less electricity will be used, and less material will be used to make a Graphic Card. So, what happens to the secondary market, all I can imagine is a mess.
I just made an extremely terrible example, but my value is that I don’t believe one individual or a group of people or a ton of people could make any change, it has to change as a entirety of human being.
However, what I mentioned about ‘being a entirety’ is 99% impossible under current situation or under any situation in the possible future, the world full of one thought is impossible to exist.
Now I have no idea about what I am talking about again, if there’s no way of stopping it, what have we been fighting for so long? The answer is us.

Yes, the answer is us! However, excessive waste is a difficult problem to solve after all, and I even think that relevant policies and laws are needed to make a real difference.
Totally agree with what you said. maybe there are more extreme examples relevant to the destruction of our environment. nowadays, not all people have the sense of protecting the Earth. Cultivating coeval peers and our offsprings may be more important.
The crypto example is a perfect example of individuals seeking maximum returns by engaging in these practices like crypto mining. However, we should recognize that developers of crypto projects can use proof-of-work (PoW) or proof-of-stake systems (PoS), where PoS systems are much more energy efficient and beneficial to the environment. So there still may be hope where developers are environmentally conscious and make changes to their crypto projects.
You're right; mining doesn't just generate e-waste. At the same time, mining requires a lot of power consumption, which leads to more carbon emissions and pollutes the environment. We must pay attention to the environment and take practical actions to protect our planet.
I agree, I also believe that a couple people taking an initiative will not change anything, rather there needs to be a complete change up in how human beings live their daily lives.
Yeah, everyone (the majority) needs to have similar values and envisioned action plans to be able to make an impactful change.
Completely agree with what you said at the end. It’s us (humanity) that needs to work together to tackle the issue at stake. Only if we are all on the same page, then and only then can we make the right moves towards sustainability.
