When we picture farms covered with lush crops and vibrant livestock, it may paint a picture of something that is eco-friendly. However, with the use of pesticides (with their use being seen in the image below), monocultures, and high consumption of water in many agricultural practices, this couldn’t be further from the truth. I value prioritizing ecosystem health by producing food using sustainable, eco-friendly practices. I envision a future in which agricultural corporations will implement practices and policy that prioritize ecosystem sustainability. This policy can include finding sustainable alternatives to fertilizer, reducing the amount of water used in agricultural practices, and promoting more diverse growing rather than monocultures. To turn this into reality, I will use my social media platform to promote initiatives that support sustainable farming practices. Also, I will engage in more “Talk 4 Change” to shift more people’s perspectives to support sustainable practices.
