I envision that the business sectors will not dominate how the world goes on and ordinary people’s lives, especially cheating people with scandals. Business sectors usually influence governments’ actions through bribes in the past. I don’t know if such actions are suppressed or not since I don’t have relevant information as an ordinary person. What I want to say is that we really need a clean world without any bribes and an action-oriented executor to prevent such things. Meanwhile, making businesses sustainable does not need any bribes if you have all the good qualities and virtues. Ethics are a good consideration for executors from all businesses. Except for companies, governments also need to improve the transparency of information to ordinary people and make more acts to regulate the operations of companies.
The process of making all companies sustainable requires a lot of sectors to sacrifice to achieve. Changes in such sectors are tough actions in both governments and businesses. Even though executors may make a mouse-promise on such things, we are not sure that their employees will follow the principles.
Hey Yaxi!
I like what you said about the government's role in increasing consumer knowledge. I've seen a few posts that have suggested governments should work more closely with companies or enact harsher legislation. My gut tells me that companies will always find a way to exploit those partnerships and overcome these laws.
The best thing for governments to do is improve the way they enforce existing legislation. When reviewing a governmental monitoring plan for a new project last Fall, I noticed that most of the details were quite vague. Perhaps adding more detail to such plans can be a building block for more comprehensive monitoring and enforcement in the future.
Hi, Yaxi. I agree with the idea of increasing transparency in terms of government and business.
With more transparency in the society, people are not likely to be blinded by the lies published from the powerful groups, this could lead to better decision-making in the society. Moreover, supervising the corporations and the government to avoid the collusion between government and business or any other types of corruption would definitely be more applicable.
Great post! It is sad but true that business sectors commit many scandals and are not transparent with consumers. A possible intervention could be policies or regulations regarding these issues.
I like your point of view! I think in addition to the government need to take action to regulate the operation of the company, the business itself also needs to operate transparently on the basis of high level of information disclosure, clarity and accuracy through open communication with all key stakeholders.
Great post! Because scandals exist, it is necessary for ordinary people to check the news critically.
