Vision:
I envision a future in which there is a significant reduction in the annual number of droughts and floods. We learned in class that human actions promote floods via urbanization and agriculture.

Values:
Societies need to recognize their social responsibility: in order to care for each other, they must commit to maintaining ecosystems. Reducing the number of droughts and floods is a significant step towards caring for ecosystems.
Intervention:
To implement system-change, new laws that regulate the amount of urbanization and agriculture must be made. First, farmers and city planners need to be made well-aware of the benefits of maintaining ecosystems. For example, in class we learned how coffee production in Costa Rica would be optimized if farmers protected 10% of their land as forest. Secondly, by regulating urbanization and construction, vegetation would be maintained, allowing the soil to hold water better. Thus, there would be fewer droughts.
