While it is imperative that fires do not dominate forests, it is also important to still have some fires, as they are crucial for ecosystem function. I envision a future in which small fires keep happening to ensure good ecosystem health while these fires are managed appropriately so they do not get out of control - a perfect balance. I value the qualities of being careful and conscientious in trying to maintain this balance. One intervention is limiting fires to only prescribed fires, so that an appropriate amount of fire is used (a prescribed fire is shown in the image below). This can involve governments imposing harsher punishments for arson, discarded cigarettes, and other human-causes of fire. This can also involve informing the public about the size of the prescribed fires and the number of prescribed fires they will start per year to ease public concern regarding prescribed fires.
